Leckpatrick Youngsters Advance

Sunday, 12 August 2018 at 08:50 PM Galvin Early

Owen Roes manager Maxi Curren opted to field an U21 line up in Urney's Father Bradley Cup quarter-final game. The decision paid dividends as his young charges eased aside what was in affect a Red Hughs second string. Owen Roes handed senior debuts to Damian Crawford, and Conor McIntyre, with Sean Ferguson debuting from the bench during the contest. Good work by Gerard Devine allowed Mark Kelly to grab the game's first point early on. Conor McCay and Marcus McGinley added to the Roe's lead...

Newtown Battle Back for Draw

Tuesday, 14 August 2018 at 08:39 AM Galvin Early

When these sides last met two weeks ago in the Tyrone Junior Championship Newtownstewart ran out easy winners. However the visitors left it very late to return up the road with a point as they came back from 10-5 down to nick a draw. It was Owen Roes who started best in this contest, Brendan Boggs and Kevin O'Neill finding range. Wing back Davy Harte also pointed as the O'Neills were on top. Newtown collected some scores of their own to keep in touch but Owen Roes closed the half with...

Sunday, 12 August 2018 at 08:50 PM Galvin Early

Owen Roes promotion play-off hopes took a blow on Sunday as under the thundery sky's of Drumquin they suffered a six point reverse. With conditions horrendous, it was the hosts that coped best to claim the points. It was the O'Neills that started the game in decent fettle making several chances, before Aidan McCrossan's fielding allowed Ronan Parker to point after 8 minutes. Indeed the hosts had several opportunities to add to that lead, but good defending, and poor Owen Roes shooting...

Newtown Claim Championship Win

It was a lack lustre display from the Owen Roes senior contingent, and a failure to take any control of the game that ultimately cost them dearly as Newtown were outright deserved winners of this Championship derby. Newtown were first on the board with a Dean Arnold free kick, and they continued to dominate in the midfield area but they failed to convert the possession.  It wasnt long before Newtown were rewarded for their hard work and hunger as they nipped past the O'Neill's defenders and...

Glee in the Gloom for Owen Roes

Monday, 13 August 2018 at 09:40 PM Galvin Early

A fine defensive performance was the catalyst for an Owen Roes victory in the fading gloom on Friday night past in the Tyrone ACL. The O'Neill's rearguard restricted their opponents to just three points all evening- all three from frees- as they chalked off a welcome win with a week to go to their Championship opener. It was Drumragh who'd started strongest too with Paul Maguire's 2nd minute free getting them off and running. However Kiernan Kelly at the opposite end mirrored Maguire's dead...
