A very young Owen Roes side were no match for an impressive Glenelly side in today's opening U14 fixture. Niall McAleer (1-1), and a couple of Aaron McGonigle points were all that the visitors could muster on the day. There was good showings from Pearse Devine, McAleer and McGonigle, and the Leckpatrick lads will know that with age on their side better days await.

Owen Roes have won the Tyrone grade 2 U14 Champions to add the 2010 league title from 12 months ago. On a miserable night in Dromore both the North Tyrone club and Naomh Mhuire served up a pulsating clash that was a lot closer than the six point margin suggested. It was Naomh Mhuire who settled quickest and a pair of early dead balls from Stefan Corr got them up and running. Owen Roes’ dreams of an U14 double were wiped out in Greencastle following a controversial closing couple of minutes in this league semi final tie with Cookstown. Owen Roes will contest the 2011 U14 grade 2 Championship final following this narrow victory over Pomeroy in Gortin on Saturday past. Michael Dooher (1-4) and Ryan McAleer (2-1) were the main scorers on this occasion, with Barry McDaid (0-1) also in range. Full forward Sean Kelly also troubled the netting with a goal as the North Tyrone side advance to a final showdown with Naomh Mhuire.
