FIXTURES AND EVENTS (subject to change)

Wed 15th Apr – U-14 (boys) League: Urney v Owen Roe’s at 7pm.

Fri 17th Apr - coaching continues for all children aged between 5 and 10 from 7pm to 8pm at Glenmornan Community Hall. New players welcome! Cost £1 per child per night.

Coaching also starts for Under-12s, again from 7 to 8pm at the pitch.

Defibrillator training and concussion awareness talk at 8pm.

Sat 18th Apr- U-8s Go-Games Blitz at 10.30am. Venue to be confirmed.

Ladies U-14 Feile Shield – times and venue to be announced.

U-21 All-Irleand semi-final: Tyrone v Roscommon at 6pm in Sligo. Match on live in Clubrooms. Doors open 5.30pm.

Sun 19th Apr – Ladies U-14 League: Drumragh v Owen Roe’s at 6pm.

ACL: Errigail Ciaran IIIs v Owen Roe’s (Seniors at 1.30 and Reserves at 3pm)

Mon 20th Apr – Ladies Minor League: Owen Roe’s v Cappagh at 6.45pm.

Tues 21st Apr – Minor League: Owen Roe’s v Fintona.at 7pm.

Fri 15th May – “The Quare Gunk” play will be staged in Glenmornan Community Hall – tickets on sale soon!

 

DEFIBRILLATOR TRAINING AND CONCUSIION AWARENESS

There will be a concussion awareness talk in the Clubrooms starting at 8pm. This is to help highlight awareness especially among players of all ages, all coaches and also parents around the signs and risks of concussion and playing any sport. All are welcome to attend. There will also be a short presentation on the use of a defibrillator. Both subjects have relevance both on the pitch and off it so the course is open to all to attend.


CLUB GEAR

All players are reminded that only official Club shorts should be worn during matches. Shorts are available from Joe Hegarty (please state waist size in inches). Club socks (red) are on sale in O’Neill’s Sports, Melmount

There are still some Club hoodies, training tops, youth and Senior replica jerseys, Reserve replica jerseys, Club jackets and granda shirts still on sale in certain sizes only. Club hats, kitbags and mugs are also still available. Check the Merchandise page on the Club website to see what’s in stock.


CULTURE

Irish dancing classes continue every Thursday night from 6.30pm to 8pm. New dancers aged 3 and upwards are welcome to start lessons at any time.

Conradh na Gaeilge will be starting adult Irish classes in the Gaelphobal Centre, Melvin Road, Strabane shortly. A 6 week refresher course starts on Wednesday 22nd April and a 6 week beginner’s course starts on Thursday 23rd April, both from 7 to 9pm. Contact Marty on 71 883330 to register.

The Tyrone County Board Gaeltacht Grants forms will be available from 24th April (downloadable from the Tyrone GAA website). The closing date for return of forms will be Friday 15th May. All applications must be from fully paid Club members. Only those members with a valid membership registration number, paid up before 15 May,  will be deemed eligible. 


GLENMORNAN COMMUNITY

“The Quare Gunk” play will be staged in Glenmornan Community Hall on Friday 15th May. Tickets now on sale from the Glen Shop, The Owen Roe’s Clubrooms or by text Pat on 07597945020. Tickets are priced at £8 for adults or £4 for under 12s. Admission is by ticket only so get your ticket early!


SOCIAL

The Clubrooms will be open this Saturday at 5.45pm for the U-21 All-Ireland semi-final between Tyrone and Roscommon which throws-in at 6pm.

If you would like to run a quiz for a charity, contact Joe Hegarty. The Club will provide a quizmaster and a prize for the winning team so all you have to do is spread the word and bring a few raffle prizes.

Cards (25) continue every Tuesday night at 9pm – new players always welcome!

The Clubrooms are open on a Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday and are available for parties such as birthdays, anniversaries, or other family events. If you would like to book the Clubrooms or Glenmornan Community Hall for an event contact Social Officer, Paul Philips.


UNDER-12 COACHING

Coaching for Under-12 players starts this Friday night in Glenmornan from 7 to 8pm. All new players welcome!


UNDER-10 – UNDER-6 COACHING

Coaching for all players aged between 5 and 10 years of age continues this Friday night in Glenmornan Community Hall from 7 to 8pm.

Children are asked to bring indoor and outdoor gear and £1 per child per night.

The Under-8s have their first Blitz this Saturday along with Urney, Aghyaran, Newtownstewart, Strabane and Castlederg. Venue details will be announced at U-8 coaching this Friday night and it is hoped eligible players will take part.


LADIES U-14 & MINOR NEWS

The Ladies U-14 team have their next game this Sunday, 19th April, when they are away to Drumragh with throw-in at 6pm. They are also through to the next round of the Feile Shield and this will be held this Saturday. Whilst no time or venue is available yet they will be in the same group as Fr Rock’s, Stewartstown and Fintona.

The Minors lost out to Badoney last week but on Monday night they recovered their recent winning form with a 2 point win over Edendork. Next Monday night they are at home to Cappagh.


YOUTH FOOTBALL NEWS

Owen Roe’s lost out in the Feile na n-Óg last Saturday morning. Thanks to all who attended and helped out with the teams and who provided refreshments.

The U-14s are away to Urney tomorrow (Wednesday) night with throw-in at 7pm and then on Saturday they are at home to Drumquin at 11am.

The Minors were away to Beragh on Tuesday night. They were scheduled to play Aghyaran this Friday night but this match has been postponed due to the Tyrone Minors playing in the Ulster Shield on Saturday. They are then at home next Tuesday night against Fintona.


RESERVE/SENIOR NEWS

The Reserves and Seniors got their League campaigns off to a winning start on Saturday last, beating both Aghaloo teams in the Glen. This Sunday they are away to play Errigail Ciaran IIIs with throw-ins at 1.30pm for the Seniors and 3pm for the Reserves.

Congratulations to Cathal Mc Shane and the Tyrone U-21s who beat Donegal in the final of the Ulster Championship last Wednesday night. They now meet Roscommon in the All-Ireland semi-final this Saturday in Markievicz Park, Sligo, with throw-in at 6pm.Throw-in is at 8pm.
