Last week, our neighbours in St Joseph’s Primary School closed its doors for the last time and brought the curtain down on after 225 years of education in Glenmornan.

We wish to thank all the current and past staff for the impact that they've had on our community over the years. Many of our members would have had their first experience of playing Gaelic Football in the school yard, or an introduction to the value of volunteering in the community or the ability to work together to get a job done or the importance of looking out for your friend. These are all vital ingredients in enhancing our Community and our Gaelic Club.

We also extend our best wishes to the children who will go to new schools perhaps whether at secondary or primary level.

A big well done to all the children who are attending the Summer Camp at the Club this week. Over 75 children took part and all are having a great time! Thanks also to their coaches and all at the Club who are helping out with the Camp!

U-6, U-8 AND U-10’S NEWS

With the Summer Camp on all week and the 5K on tonight, the U-6s, U-8s and U-10s will have no coaching tonight, Thursday. They will also then have a break until Thursday 25th July as several of our coaches are on holiday.

The next U-10½ Blitz is on Saturday 20th July and the next U-8½ Blitz is on Saturday 27th July.

The Club will be hosting its now annual 5K Run tonight, Thursday.

The 5K Run/Walk is open to all over 12 years of age, of all abilities and fitness levels.

There will also be a 1K Fun Run for U-12s starting at 7pm.

Registration for the 5K Run/Walk will be from 6pm to 7.15pm at the Clubrooms in Glenmornan with the Run starting at 7.30pm.

Entry fees are £7 for over -18s, £3 for U-16s and £1 for U-12s.

On Sunday week, 14th July, an Owen Roe’s Select will take on Burndennett Cricket Club in a charity cricket match in Burndennett in aid of Pieta House, starting at 2pm. If you would like to play or are looking for more details, please contact Stephen Kelly.

The annual Irish language course run by the Ulster Council takes place from Monday 15th to Friday 19th July 2019 in Downings. The course is free to attend and is open to all adult members of the GAA. For more details and to download a brochure and application form, check the “Culture” section on Ulster GAA’s website.

Well done to Cathal and the Tyrone Seniors who overcame Kildare on Saturday. They now meet Cavan this Saturday in Clones at 5pm. The match will be preceded by the Ulster U-20 semi-final between the same 2 counties at 2.45 so if you’re heading to the match leave in plenty of time.

If you’re not going to Clones the match will be shown live in the Clubrooms – doors open 4.30pm.

Good luck again this weekend, Catha and to both the Tyrone teams!

Commiserations to the Ladies Senior team who lost out to a more experienced Edendork last Friday night in the Junior Championship.

Their next league match is on Friday night when they are away to Beragh with throw-in at 7pm. (With neither the Reserves or Seniors playing this weekend maybe you could go along and support the Ladies Senior team instead???).

They were then due to play Aghaloo on Sunday but at the request of Aghaloo this match will now be played on Sunday week in Aghaloo at 7.30pm.

Both the Reserves and Seniors were due to be away to Gortin this Sunday but the 2 games have been postponed due to the Tyrone Seniors and U-20s both playing on Saturday evening.

There is now a 2 week break in mens football and the next scheduled game is due on Sunday 28th July with away fixtures against Galbally.

The Minors lost out to Dromore in the Championship last Thursday night. The team put in a great performance after conceding 2 early goal and just some hard luck in the end cost them! However well done to the team on a performance they can be proud of!!!
The match brings an end to the Minor season for the Roe's but a big thanks to all the players and their coaches Charlie, Paul and Tommy for all their hard work this year!

Training for the U-16 boys team continues this Saturday at 11am in Dunamanagh. All new, past and current players born in 2003, 04, 05 and 06 are welcome to come along!
