GLENMORNAN COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION

Dance the night away this Saturday night!!! JP Mc Cauley and Caroline Parker make a welcome return to Glenmornan Community Hall this Saturday night with their Johnny Cash tribute show and dance, Cash Returns. This event is strictly over-18 only. At time of these notes going to press, there was still a few tickets left. You can purchase your tickets from Anne-Marie Conwell, Grainne Kelly and Joe Hegarty. Tickets can also be purchased via the Owen Roe’s Facebook “Shop Now” button.

Mon 5th Sept – Ladies U-16 League: Kildress v Owen Roe’s at 7pm.

Wed 7th Sept – first round of U-13 League at 6.30pm.

Fri 9th – Sun 11th Sept – Junior Championship quarter-finals weekend.

SENIOR AND RESERVE NEWS

The Seniors made the trip to Newtownstewart on Sunday evening to meet Drumquin in the first round of the Junior Championship and came away with a hard earned 5 point victory. They now meet Drumragh in the quarter finals on the weekend of Sun 11th September.

The Seniors are back on the field tonight, Wednesday, when they host Clann na nGael at 7.30pm.

Both teams are then back on the road in the League with journeys to Rock this Sunday and then on Sunday week a trip to Killeeshil is on the cards.

 

TYRONE NEWS

Commiserations to the Tyrone Ladies Senior team who lost out to Clare in the All-Ireland Intermediate quarter final last Saturday.


LADIES NEWS

The Ladies U-16s had a good win over Tattyreagh last week. This Saturday they are away to Aghaloo with throw-in is at 2pm and then a few weeks break until their next match which is an away tie on Monday 5th September against Kildress – throw-in at 7pm.

 

YOUTH NEWS

Good luck to all involved with the boys’ U-16 team who play Loughmacrory in the Championship tomorrow night, Thursday, at 7pm in Glenmornan.

The boys finished off their scheduled League games with an away win over Drumragh, leaving them top of the Grade 2B table.

Their next League game will be the League quarter-finals and these are scheduled for next Thursday, 1st September.

The U-12s wrap up their season tonight with an away match against Urney. Thanks to Stephen Boyle and Tony Mc Gonigle who looked after the team and also to all the players who came out and their parents for their help with transport.

The U-13s are due to get their League started on Wednesday 7th September. More details soon.

Coaching for U-8s and U-10s resumes this night, Friday, at 7pm.

The U-8s will have their next Blitz this Saturday 27th August at 10.30am with the next U-10 Blitz on Saturday 10th September.

 

OWEN ROE’S SCRATCHCARDS

Owen Roe’s latest fundraiser is scratch cards for the All-Ireland football final. Each scratch card has a time in minutes and seconds. If this time matches the time the first goal is scored in this year's All-Ireland football final the owner wins £250!!
Scratch cards are now being distributed to all adult and youth players, Club members, supporters and parents and all your support is appreciated! 
Sell them where you can....Owen Roe’s “away” matches, the pub, out with friends, at your work, at a concert, along your street or road or around your park....
Scratch cards are priced £2 or €3 each, 3 for £5 or 2 for €5. You can collect your quota (or another quota!!) of scratch cards from Shauna Dooher.

Please return any money collected from the scratch cards to Shauna Dooher as soon as possible.

CLUB MERCHANDISE

The new Club skinnies, regular-fit track bottoms, polo shirts and T shirts are now in stock. Anyone who ordered any of these items or who got them through the Guess the Score is asked to collect them and pay for them (if applicable) as soon as possible.

There is a small number of Club bodywarmers in stock in small, large and extra-large at the minute. Another order is currently being taken and anyone wishing to order one (youth £35 and adult £40) should do so as soon as possible as the order will be going to O’Neill’s at the end of August. All normal sizes from age 5/6 up to extra-extra-large will be available. Orders to Joe Hegarty.

NOTE: Please confirm size before ordering by trying on a similar item in O’Neill’s Sports, Melmount first as items cannot be exchanged! Contact Joe Hegarty with your payment, sizes and quantity.

SOCIAL

The first 2 Quiz Nites of the season have already been booked in! First up is  Friday 9th September with a Quiz to help raise funds for Karen Devine who is doing a zip line challenge in aid of Meningitis Research. Two weeks later on Friday 23rd September the Quiz is being run by Owen Roe’s Youth Officer, Stephen Boyle. He and his brother Kevin will be running the Dublin Marathon at the end of October to raise funds for the Foyle Hospice and Motor Neurone Research.
