Owen Roe’s unbeaten run in Division 3 continued on Sunday afternoon as the Leckpatrick lads ran out winners over Fintona Pearse’s. The home side managed to reach the interval 1-11 to 0-5 ahead which gave them the bedrock for another pair of ACL points.

The Roe’s Conal Mc Cormack nabbed the game’s first point with a trio of Cathal Mc Shane efforts adding to the O'Neill’s lead. Fintona pulled a couple of scores back, but McCormack was on target again to keep his side at arm's length.

Fresh from Tyrone duties Mc Shane was a thorn in Fintona's side all day and two more scores from him- one from a 45- and a long range Tony Devine point kept the score board ticking.

Indeed Owen Roe’s had a couple of goal chances but Mc Shane hit the post, and Ronan McNulty and Mc Shane were denied by good stops from the Fintona goalkeeper.

Two cracking placed kicks by Fintona's Aaron Mc Carney ensured Owen Roe’s had to keep on their toes.

Nonetheless, an excellent point from captain Brendan Boggs and a Michael Dooher score took Roe’s towards the whistle. Fintona pulled one back at the other end but a late 1-1 from Mc Shane took them into the break, the goal following good work by Tony Devine and Michael Dooher.

Fintona came out battling in the second period with the home side struggling a little for rhythm.

Mc Carney clipped another couple of fine frees early on, but the league leaders bounced into action with scores from Mc Shane (0-1), Seamus Dooher (0-2) and Tony Devine.

The Pearse’s hit back with a trio of scores but Dooher with another well executed pair added to the Roe’s lead. Mc Shane was on hand to find the net again as he weaved through the tackles to lace to the net with 18 minutes remaining.

Two scores from Fintona either side of a Mc Shane white flag was some reward for the Pearse’s efforts. However the home side would have the final say.

Mark O'Neill came off the bench and did well to tee up Michael Dooher for a late goal with fellow sub Stephen Harper clipping over after doing the spade work himself to complete another good afternoon's work for Barry Tracey's charges.

Owen Roe’s make the trip to Errigal Ciaran III this Saturday for our final away League game of the season with Reserves throwing-in at 4.30pm and Seniors at 6pm. All support for the lads welcome.
