All-County League (Seniors): Drumquin 0-05 Owen Roe’s 4-13
Both
Owen Roe’s adult teams and their supporters were back on the road again for the
seventh time so far this season with an away trip to Drumquin.
With
the Reserves having already accounted for their hosts, the Seniors were hoping
to do something similar to keep up their 100% record so far in the year’s
League campaign, and that they did.
Seamus
Dooher opened the scoring for the Leckpatrick side followed up quickly by
another from the other Dooher, Michael, and from Tony Devine before Drumquin
rallied only to see their attack go just wide. The Wolfe Tone side were making
it tough for the Roe’s to get a real grip on the game, forcing several errors from
their visitors, before Ronan Mc Nulty and Michael Dooher again found the target
by 25 minutes. However the next few minutes proved the turning point. Ryan Mc
Aleer was upended in the big square and Conor O’Neill duly dispatched to the
net. Within moments of the restart Ryan Devine (Mór) hit the net for a second
before Conor O’Neill again found the target to stretch the llead. With half
time approaching the 2 Doohers again picked off a point apiece to leave the
Leckpatrick side going in 3-08 to 0-01 to the good.
Ryan
and Tony Devine hit a point apiece after the restart before Drumquin pointed
from a free. Some wayward shooting from Owen Roe’s ended when Mc Nulty followed
up by a rare score from full back Stephen Kelly. O’Neill and Michael Dooher
pointed again for Owen Roe’s before Drumquin again scored from a free kick
followed up by another from play but it wasn’t to be enough as the second Ryan
Devine (Ricki) came on as a sub and within minutes of his introduction bagged
the games 4th goal.
Full-time:
Drumquin 0-05 Owen Roe’s 4-13.
