Owen Roe’s maintained their 4 point lead at the top of ACL Division 3 on Sunday evening courtesy of victory over Dregish.

The away side have spent most of the campaign rooted near the bottom of the League, but in the early stages rattled the home side, before a run of points in the second quarter of the game allowed Owen Roe’s to settle into the contest and notch up their 13th win over the campaign.

The away team started brightly and after 10 minutes had a 0-02 to 0-01 lead, with Conor O'Neill on target with a placed kick for the Leckpatrick side. Indeed the Pearse Og’s could've been further ahead with Ryan Mc Shane having to come out sharpish to save at the feet of a Dregish attacker.

This close shave woke the home team with O'Neill (0-03), Ryan Mc Aleer and Sean Mc Bride rattling off a run of scores between the 15th and 22nd minute. Michael Dooher clipped over another Owen Roe’s score which was immediately cancelled out by a booming free kick from beyond the 45 for the away team.

Nonetheless Owen Roe’s continued to press on and despite another Dregish point scores from O'Neill (0-2), Seamus Dooher and captain Brendan Boggs saw them into the dressing room 0-11 to 0-04 ahead.

The home side showed more purpose in the second half with Michael Dooher splitting the sticks early on with the north Tyrone men converting a goal a few minutes later. Conor O'Neill fed Ryan Mc Aleer who weaved through the tackles before finishing to the net.

Further scores in the second half by Seamus Dooher, O'Neill (0-03), Sean Dooher and Mc Aleer took Owen Roe’s across the line with the away team's sole riposte via two well taken placed kicks.

Owen Roe’s now patiently await news of their next fixture with three League games remaining against Kileeshil, Brockagh and Newtownstewart, and a Championship quarter-final with Fintona.
