ACL: Clogher v Owen Roe’s
Last Saturday Owen Roe’s were on the road again this time both teams travelling to Clogher in 2 matches which yielded 12 goals!!
The Reserves were up first and got off to a speedy start bagging a pointed free from Mark O’Neill and a goal from Marty O’Neill within minutes of the throw-in. This was to be short-lived however with Clogher netting from a penalty and a point of their own. While Clogher added on a further 3 points, Mark Kelly kept the Roe’s in it with 2 of his own until Ruari Boylan levelled matters. A good passage of play from the Leckpatrick side brought the Ro’s in to the Clogher posts with Mark Kelly having the sight to find Paul Devine free at the far post for Devine to palm to the net. Like the first Roe’s goal, this one spurred Clogher back into attack and within minutes had goaled themselves again, and followed up with another point leaving the hosts a point up at the break.
Half-time: Clogher 2-05 Owen Roe’s 2-04.
Conor Devine pointed on the restart quickly followed by another from Mark Kelly. Clogher replied with 2 more points but Marty O’Neill goaled a second time to stretch the Roe’s lead. Mark O’Neill added on another 2 points to put Owen Roe’s 4 in front. Clogher closed it to 2 points but further points from Mark O’Neill, Conn Tinney (0-02), substitute Ryan Devine kept the visitors in front. Their lead was stretched further when again Mark Kelly laid off a good ball to Mark O’Neill to put another 3 points between the sides. Liam Mc Cay came on for Barry Mc Aleer, and in a repeat performance of his coming on last week, quickly bagged 1-01. Mark O’Neill furthered the Roe’s lead with 2 pointed frees to leave it a comfortable win in the end.

The Seniors too got off to a speedy start with Cathal Mc Shane opening with a point and Conor O’Neill pointing from a free before Clogher were to pounce and snatch an early lead with a well taken goal. The hosts minimum lead was to be short lived however as Mc Shane pointed twice then found the net. Clogher pointed but a good foraging run upfield from Kevin O’Neill resulted with Ronan Mc Nulty bagging a second goal. A line ball from Mc Shane found Brendan Boggs to point, taking it to a 6 point game going towards half time. However with 29 minutes, referee Donal Mc Crossan adjudged a Roe’s foul along the endline and Clogher narrowed to 3 from the resulting penalty.
Half time: Clogher 2-02 Owen Roe’s 2-05.
Clogher came out in the second half with a strong breeze on their backs and immediately made the most of it with a goal to level the game. Conal Mc Cormack made a good attack for the Roe’s, laying the ball off for what seemed a certain goal chance, only for Clogher to clear. Clogher pointed either side of a Ronan Mc Nulty point but 5 on the trot from Mc Shane, , Ryan Devine, Mc Nulty and 2 from Conor O’Neill saw the Leckpatrick side pick up another 2 League on the their travels.
