The juvenille footballers of Owen Roes got their season off to a poor start when they lost heavilly to Drumragh on Thursday evening. The O'Neills went in at the turn three points down, but a disjointed second half showing left Drumragh to cruise home and take the spoils.
The Sarsfields had led 0-6 to no score at one stage of the half before Owen Roes through off the shackles. Cathal McShane won and converted a short free, and then minutes later his cross field ball was slipped to the net by half forward Stephen Kelly. The O'Neills cause was not helped by a nasty 5th minute injury to Conor Doherty.
The second half though produced a disapointing Owen Roes showing and only Fergal McNulty's 45 troubled the scorers. At the other end Owen Roes were indebted to some outstanding goalkeeping by the Leckpatrick net minder Ryan McShane.
