A dominant first half display was the key to another pair of ACL points for Owen Roe's Seniors at the weekend. The north Tyrone men had an 11 point lead at the interval that blunted any hopes that Derrytresk may have had of taking something from Pairc an Ghleanna in round 8 of the All-County League.
The green and reds started sharp and had an early 0-2 to no score lead. Cathal McShane and Conall McCormick on target, with Niall Gavin replying for Derrytresk.
The Tyrone Senior man was in excellent form and found range twice from distance shortly after, one from a free kick, with Seamus Dooher adding to the lead.
Owen Roe's struck the first of their two goals on 13 minutes. Tony Devine and McShane were the architects with Stephen Harper blasting home with confidence.
Conor O’Neill, Dooher and Ryan McAleer stretched the advantage before the away side got on the board once more via Michael Robinson. Late in the half McShane added another to the home side’s tally as his side closed out a confident performance.
The O’Neill's found scores harder to come by in the second half as the game lost its shape. Indeed despite a lot of huffing and puffing it took until the 15th minute for the first score. Conor O’Neill made an excellent interception and he fed McCormick to power over.
Any hope of a Derrytresk comeback went by the wayside with 10 minutes to go. The away side a one on one in front of goal but Andy Devine spread himself well to save.
At the other end McShane cashed in on the save as he scored from a dead ball, and while Derrytresk pulled one back through Jonathan Campbell with a few minutes to go, Owen Roe's would see out the game as they started, on the offensive.
Gerard McShane sent over a pile-driver from around the 45 and in added time Ryan Mór Devine shook off the tackles to blast to the rigging from close range to seal the points for the Pairc an Ghleanna side.
