Owen Roe’s and Beragh played out a keenly fought contest in round 2 of the Tyrone Intermediate Reserve League on Sunday past. The hosts gathered the points but were indebted to the two keepers that they used over the hour both making stunning stops at opposite ends of the clock.
Eamon Mc Bride grabbed Owen Roe’s first point following link up play from Ryan Mór Devine and Sean Dooher with Ronan Parker’s free doubling the lead shortly after.
Any thoughts of a handy afternoon for the Leckpatrick lads were soon quelled with Beragh cutting the home side open on 4 mins. However Shaun Mór Devine made a stunning double save with Beragh getting some reward with the resulting 45.
The Red Knights were now in flight and notched up six of the games next seven scores with Parker from play the sole riposte for Owen Roe’s.
Nonetheless it would be the north Tyrone men who’d finish the half stronger. Parker twice from frees found range with Paul Devine tagging on a score from a placed ball worked short. Parker would level the game from a free late on but Beragh would enter the dressing room ahead as they grabbed a late score to nose in front.
Beragh would strike first in the second half but Roe’s would roar back with a goal. Ruairi Boylan lofted the ball into the danger zone with Connor Devine applying the fisted finish to the rigging.
Conor Mc Cay tagged on a well taken point but two more scores
from the away side kept the game in the mixer.
Nonetheless Owen Roe’s were to get a major boost on the 45 minute mark. Ronan Parker conjured up some space and although his pot shot didn’t have the legs it’s flight carried it into the back of the Beragh goal.
Beragh replied with a free but Ryan Devine’s long distance effort cancelled that out. The game would close out with both teams sharing four scores. Parker with another two for the Roe’s, one from a free and the second following good wok by Clarke Stephenson, and Connor Devine.
In the last action of the game Beragh had a late, late chance to grab an equalising goal, however replacement keeper Art Anderson made a brave save to deny the Beragh attacker when a goal looked certain.
