Owen Roe’s 1-19 Clogher 0-09
Two wins on the bounce was the reward for Owen Roe’s second string as they pocketed both points from yesterday’s home game with Clogher. The home side racked up a healthy first half lead with the wind and played with intelligence to outscore the visitors in the second half too.
Ryan ‘Mór’ Devine, Ronan Parker and a well taken Conor Mc Cay point got Owen Roe’s up and running with Clogher replying via a free. Clarke Stevenson climbed highest to fist over on 8 minutes before Ricki Devine added to the Owen Roe’s advantage.
The Éire Ógs replied straight away but in an open first half, Ricki Devine added two more points to his tally following good midfield work by the Devine brothers in midfield.
It was Conor Devine who tagged on the next score from distance
with a brace of Parker points either side of a Clogher effort keeping the
Leckpatrick scoreboard moving.
Stevenson and a Mc Cay free stretched the lead, the former effort following good work by Oran Roddy, before the only goal of the day arrived.
Ruairí Kelly made a good tackle in the deep and when Mc Cay went scampering clear he made no mistake with a clinical finish.
The away team added three to their tally late in the half with one of the scores the result of a smart Art Anderson save. However Owen Roe’s added two points of their own via another Mc Cay dead ball and Parker.
Half Time: Owen Roe’s 1-14 Clogher 0-06.
Half back Sean Mc Bride got the opening score of the second half as Owen Roe’s controlled the tempo well against a stiff wind. Clogher replied a few minutes later but a driven Mc Cay score and another from Stevenson ensured that the Roe’s continued to nose away.
Rory Devine capped a fine display at the back by making the tackle that set up the next point for Parker. Clogher would grab two of the game’s final three points either side of another fisted return from Stevenson as Owen Roe’s ran out healthy winners on the day.
Full-time Owen Roe’s 1-19 Clogher 0-09.
