Leckpatrick's Miserable Run Continues

Fixture: Owen Roes v Dregish

Score: 0-8 to 2-10

Owen Roes' miserable start to the season continued on Sunday when they suffered a heavy defeat to local rivals Dregish who shock off the early loss of their corner forward to a straight red card to pick up a well earned two points.

Indeed that Dregish red card occured before either side had troubled the score board. When the scoreboard did click into action it was the visitors who yielded first blood. Aidan McCrossan dropped over a free for the home side, but Dregish were in the asscendancy and quickly opened up a 0-4 to 0-1 advantage.

Kiernan Kelly reduced the gap after 12 minutes, but a couple of placed kicks by Dregish kept them at arm's length.

The McCrossan siblings Declan and Aidan both struck successful placed kicks towards the end of the half to suggest an Owen Roes revival, but Dregish closed the 30 minutes with a flourish when they bounced for the first of their two majors.

Brendan Boggs and a Declan McCrossan dead ball got the second period up and going, but the visitors were matching the O'Neills stride by stride and clipped two of their own placed kicks.

Declan McCrossan dissected the posts with a decent point from play, however Dregish replied via their own point and when they successfully converted a penalty minutes after it was points in the back.

Aidan McCrossan added another to his tally, but Dregish continued to the closing whistle with a point of their own to give them a well earned pair of ACL points.
