Despite a whirlwind start Castlederg emerged from Sunday's clash with Owen Roes with nothing to show for their efforts. The hosts had built up a 2-1 to no score lead before the visitors had settled. However a Willie Doherty free and an Aaron Lynch score kick started the Roe's revival.

Stephen Kelly's impressive midfield display yielded a fine point, but Castlederg pointed again on the ten-minute mark. However things got better for the visitors when Rory Kelly dispossessed the host's full back and punished the error by hitting the ball low to the net.

Lynch scythed through to point, before Tom O'Neill fed wing back Ryan Stewart to knock over. Castlederg struck back again though and once more put the ball into the net to give them a three-point cushion. Lynch and Stephen Doherty closed the half out with points to leave a kick in it.

Half time: Castlederg 3-2 Owen Roes 1-7

Lynch was also in range early in the second half after been fed by Sean McBride, and a quick free allowed Stephen Doherty to put the Leckpatrick team in front. The hosts pulled level again, but keeper come forward Andy Devine struck over to retake the lead for the O'Neills.

Mark Kelly stretched the lead before the visitors virtually sealed the points. Lynch's shot was well saved but sub Brian Conway was on hand to finish the job.

As the game entered injury time Castlederg rattled off three scores of their own, before Lynch pointed again after fine fielding by Stephen Kelly.

That's three points from six now for the Owen Roe's second string, as they knit together a nice blend of youth and experience.
